Interviews set for December as six candidates vie to succeed Batohi

The interviews for the country’s top anti-crime and anti-corruption position, the National Director of Public Prosecutions (NDPP), will be held from December 8th to 10th, 2025. Six people have been shortlisted for the post, which becomes vacant when Shamila Batohi retires in January. Among them are Investigating Directorate Against Corruption head Andrea Johnson; her predecessor, Hermione Cronje; and the former NDPP, Menzi Simelane. Senior Researcher at the Dullah Omar Institute, Dr. Jean Redpath, weighs in.
